PLAYBOI CARTI’S ROLLING LOUD SET PAUSED DUE TO UNRULY CROWD: ‘IT’S AN EMERGENCY’

With the interruption of his set for what he labelled “an emergency” in the audience, Playboi Carti still managed to put on an energetic show at this weekend’s Rolling Loud California.

The Atlanta native performed at the end of the first day of the festival’s inaugural Los Angeles edition in four years on Friday (March 3), just before 10 p.m. local time. According to Daily Breeze, however, his show was cut short after just three tracks as people started pushing past security to get closer.Playboi Carti can be seen seeming somewhat irritated as he announces to the audience that the festival’s organizers have turned the music off in footage taken from the Rolling Loud Livestream. He then explains why his performance was cut short.

Someone is harmed in the fucking crowd. He tells the gathering urgently. Let’s pause here for a minute. There is an immediate need for everyone to take cover.

After Carti exited the stage, Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif addressed the audience, saying, “The crowd needs to settle down, and everybody who leapt over the barrier needs to go out, or we will shut this event down.”

It is unknown at this time whether or not anybody was gravely hurt during the performance, and HipHopDX has not been able to corroborate this.

As Playboi Carti returned to the stage after a short break, he played an extended performance that kept the festival going far beyond the 11 p.m. closing time. During the show, he played a sneak peek at a previously unheard song for the audience.

His tour DJ Swamp Izzo revealed in a tweet that the working title for the song is “Rockstar,” as shown by a Genius annotation. Producers opium baby and F1lthy subsequently tweeted that they had written the song in the hours leading up to Carti’s show.

The next time you can see Playboi Carti perform is July 6 at the Rolling Loud festival in Portugal. The following week, he will be one of numerous Hip Hop acts announced for the 2023 Wireless Festival programme in London.

Set to take place from July 7 through July 9, this year’s festival will also see performances from Travis Scott, 50 Cent, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Durk, Ice Spice, Metro Boomin, Joey Bada$$, GloRilla, Latto, Bryson Tiller, Lil Tjay, Popcaan, Ken Carson and many others.

During the 2022 Wireless Festival, Carti surprised everyone when he fell off the platform while performing with his back to the audience.

When a fan filmed Playboi Carti’s embarrassing fall, which went viral, the rapper shrugged it off and resumed performing.
